She is also a vocal advocate for women's rights and social justice.
Jarrett was born in Shiraz, Iran, and immigrated to the United States with her family when she was five years old. She graduated from Harvard University and the University of Michigan Law School. After law school, Jarrett worked as a lawyer in Chicago before entering politics.
Jarrett is married to William Jarrett, and they have two daughters. She lives in Chicago.
